About

I'm a creative-energetic- way too analytical- hard working- numbers driven- get it done attitude- curious independent- sensitive- wannabe artsy- humanist-foodie- urbanist- too uncool to be hispster and not too techie to be a complete nerd- who's been in interactive marketing for 10 years.

“As technology advances, it reverses the characteristics of every situation again and again. The age of automation is going to be the age of ‘do it yourself.’”

Marshall McLuhan

I care about my work it’s because I am fascinated with the relationship between people and communication technology. There’s something magical that happens when you integrate technology, content, visual design and business strategy that got me hooked from the start of my career.

I spent 8 years in New York (which makes me a lifer) and recently moved to the Pacific North West. I worked at American Express for five years and at Digitas for three. In these two companies I had built up experience in many aspects of marketing like project management, user-interface design, web analytics, direct response, media strategy, ROIs and P&Ls, vendor management, affiliate programs, etc. I now work at Weber Shandwick as Director of Digital Media and Entertainment  in Seattle.

With the media landscape changing and the barriers between marketing, PR and journalism blurred, I strive to be a new kind of communicator (still looking for some label for this). One able to effectively navigate through the digital media ecology where community, technology and business converge (see Jeremiah’s Owyang’s post on the three spheres of web strategy).

To enhance my perspective and understanding of new media, I gave myself the gift of time to think.  I decided to pursue a Masters in Digital Media at University of Washington. This degree is an integrated approach to understanding new communication strategies demanded in the complex world of digital media. My research focus is storytelling and social media. While in school I’ve consulted on UI, web development, social media strategy, and analytics. I’m also actively participating in the development of the MCDM program by sitting in the advisory board, managing the flipthemedia.com blog and leading the development of the community platform for a new hub for communication called: Media Space at UW.

Before entering the American corporate world I spent six years involved in the leadership of AIESEC, the world’s largest student organization for cultural exchange. That took me to many places around the world and eventually landed me in New York.

I received my BA in Mass Communication from Universidad del Zulia in my native Venezuela. And I honor my Argentinean heritage by being a Tango aficionado. If I’m not in front of a computer, you can find me in a milonga somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
