1. How can journalists establish credibility in today’s media environment?
They can start by stop hiding behind shield laws and making excuses for themselves every time anyone (including government and court officials) asks them a hard question regarding their sources. As soon as they "refuse" to divulge their so called sources of information, I just laugh and say "have fun in jail."

    2. Why is the news industry so unprepared for the changing ways of new media, if this phenomenon was clearly in development for a long time?
I think this is a case of a huge industry hiding its head in the sand hoping that they wont be swept away by the tide of change. This change in the media world has been gaining speed and size for so long, there is no way and no excuse for the lack of adaptation in the news media world.
